It’s all about Geno the Diva, who was savaged prior to the draft by Pro Football Weekly, and now that he’s fired his agents, we’re hearing more negative things about the former West Virginia QB. From Jason Cole at Yahoo:

Two sources indicated that when Smith went on some visits to teams, rather than interact with coaches and front-office people, he would spend much of his time on his cell phone. Instead of being engaged with team officials, he would be texting friends or reading Twitter or a number of other distracting activities.

“All these other players who were in there were talking to the coaches, trying to get to know people and he was over there by himself,” one of the sources said. “That’s not what you want out of your quarterback.”

More drama continues to rise from the smoldering ashes of New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith's alliance with Select Sports Group.

2013 NFL Draft grades by division
The draft is finally behind us. How did everybody do? Bucky Brooks breaks out the red pen and grades all 32 teams by division. More ...
Citing a source in Smith's camp, Deadspin's Barry Petchesky reported Wednesday that Smith's decision to fire his agents was rooted in the agency's failure to be proactive in bettering Smith's position when it became apparent the quarterback could fall in the 2013 NFL Draft.

According to the source, Smith wanted to play in the Senior Bowl, but was convinced by his agent to skip it. Smith was criticized for sitting out the event, which serves as an invaluable selling tool for draft prospects.

Smith also was disappointed, according to the source, when his agents failed to combat the wave of negative publicity caused by a negative scouting report written by Pro Football Weekly. Finally, Smith felt betrayed when two clients of agent Jeff Nalley signed with teams that seemed to be possible NFL landing spots for Smith -- Chase Daniel with the Kansas City Chiefs and Kevin Kolb with the Buffalo Bills.

The report comes one day after Smith fired his agents, reportedly because he felt he "would be and should be" the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft (he tumbled to No. 39 overall).

Schein: Post-draft pressure points
In the wake of the 2013 NFL Draft, Adam Schein identifies players, coaches and general managers in the crosshairs. More ...
Smith quickly responded, explaining that his decision was "not because of one particular incident." On Tuesday night, Smith's agents -- Nalley and Erik Burkhardt -- issued a statement to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, wishing Smith well while furthering the perception that Smith's biggest issue with the company was that he was a green-room squatter at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Change Geno's skin color to white... media's narrative:

Geno, the small town, boy next door from the working class heartland school of America, broke the heart of a nation as he sat twisted and tortured as team after team passed him up during the 2013 NFL draft. Understandably angst-ridden during the proceedings Geno remained melancholy and frozen, while texting his 80 year old grandmother, and high school sweetheart, trying in vain to choke back the tears forming in his eyes, and the grapefruit sized lumps growing in his throat. Led astray and let down by slick, tailored suited, fast talking agents, Geno's only recourse is to now prove the GM doubters wrong.

Go get 'em young man. America is behind you. God bless Geno!

Geno fugged up by choosing a crap agency for QB's. He's not a RB or WR. Teams will judge him completely different. If Geno really wanted to be drafted high, he should have signed with CAA or Rosenhaus.

In my opinion, Geno personality reminds me of a Black Joe Flacco. Introverted, opinionated, doesn't bite his tongue and will speak before he thinks, passionate about his craft, cocky, and full belief in his abilities.

The NFL barely likes Flacco, much less a Black one.

:ohhh:

good point.

And to be fair, Mark Sanchez is a great interviewer and an awful quarterback.

when you take into account of the entirety of his stock plummeting... he should've fired them

They fukked up his money, but he was still supposed to rock with them? The fact they even tried to shyt on him after the fact makes them look like bytch made people.

And to be fair, Mark Sanchez is a great interviewer and an awful quarterback.

Mark was a communications major and is a high GPA one at a top tier communications program(USC). Mark sold himself better. Heck Mark got the Jets to give him 50 mil when he never broke 58% comp and it's not like he has jets like Vick. He's a pocket passer who is at his best throwing on the run. Sucks at throwing in the pocket. Mark will be a solid backup QB.
