i disagree with this. it may seem trivial, but there's been plenty mis-information and straight up lies used to degrade the importance of black history and black accomplishments. there's also a lot of anecdotal and 'educational' literature that makes grey areas out of black history and lineage. admittedly, that's not the fault of every white person.

i can also see why some white people would be oblivious to a discovery like this, because they don't view it from the perspective of a race that's been persecuted as much as blacks have been. from slavery, to 3/5ths of person, to jim crow, assassinations, racial profiling, gov experimentation, etc. it's understandably hard for many white people to grasp how something like this contributes to an overall narrative that can help restore black pride and promote less ignorance. it's not the holy grail of black excellence, but at the very least it is important to remove some of the inaccurate historical references out there.
