Well, that was fast. Just moments after the Weeknd released the video for his new single "Belong to the World", Geoff Barrow is calling him out for sampling the Portishead song "Machine Gun" without permission. "I think it's a load of bollox," he wrote on Twitter. "When someone asks to sample you and you refuse they should have the respect as a fellow artist to not use it."

This song isn't in the "ether," its being sold on itunes. Again, I'm sure his label got the sample cleared by whoever actually owns the rights to the song. The Weeknd seeking permission from the artists themselves was probably more of a courtesy than a legal obligation
