if we're honest with ourselves we have to admit that the industry can't continue to go on the way it is. the beautiful HD graphics that cost millions to produce on the consoles that are sold for hundreds of dollars in losses per console will eventually cannibalize itself out of existence.
Used games is just the latest boogieman but these console makers are basically trying to get all the food on the table so they're eating through the table.
Used games are a pillar that supports the industry but console makers and publishers see it as a faucet they don't control. "Somewhere over there somebody is making money off our copyrighted material and we're not getting a dime from that."
But the truth is they are getting paid off it because when that game gets traded in and that customer rolls that in-store credit into a new game purchase that's them getting paid. in all honesty the amount of money retailers make off a new game sale is minimal but when they sell that used game they make money hand over fist but that money is kinda delayed because they have to up front take the loss on selling the new game they weren't really making jack shyt on to get it.
when a game like Tomb Raider goes on to sell 3 and a half million and barely breaks even that goes to show you the industry is broken. they keep driving the price of new titles higher and higher with every generation. i wouldn't be surprised to see this new one pull in a $69.99 price tag on a new title.
they blame pirates who are mostly poor enough to not be able to afford to buy the product new as if that's a lost sale and they blame used game buyers who are in many cases like pirates and only get access to that used game because somebody bought it new knowing they could sell it and recoup. the industry blames everyone but itself and its broken business model where they spend millions to develop HD games and if a studio flops one release or barely breaks even the studio is dismantled and a new one is brought in with the same budget to try and make the next Call of Duty.
How the fukk you sell 3 mill at 59.99 and break even. I just dont get it.
Edit. They spent 100 million to make Tomb Raider. WHERE DID THE MONEY GO. Stop hiring known voice actors. Dark Souls gets by hiring nobodies with talent.

On SOHH you would of been crucified for this level of stannery. Here its just considered the norm
"Developers get to choose"
tell me why a single dev would NOT use DRM if that is what the norm is? As you guys claim, Microsoft doesn't make games. Its only 3rd party. So why would they put something on there system that DEVELOPERS didn't ask for
Will the PS4 do the same thing? Easy answer, but a new thread is in order to handle the magnitude of a question like that
@ Loose stealing this shyt straight from NeoGAF

Along with PSN online improvements/etc. All that stuff you guys ignore like if its not even important. That offline single player games is all the rage. Look at your collection. If online games is in your collection at a 3 to 1 or higher ratio? Then you already know what it iz.
