"In the vast and ever-evolving landscape of Hip-Hop, few figures loom as large and influential as the godfather of funk himself, George Clinton.

His impact on the genre goes beyond his unmistakable psychedelic hairstyles and outrageous stage presence; Clinton's sonic innovations have woven an intricate tapestry into the very fabric of Hip-Hop music.

George Clinton will be honored with the 2,769thstar on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, January 19 at 11:30 am PT at 6752 Hollywood Boulevard. Joining emcee Sibley Scoles as speakers are Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ben Crump, and Janie Bradford.

"George Clinton is a highly influential song writer, record producer, and performer known for his contributions to Funk music. He has been instrumental in shaping the sound of Funk and pushing musical boundaries. His distinctive style, flamboyant persona, and psychedelic stage presence have made him a beloved figure and a pioneer of the genre,” stated Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. β€œWe are thrilled that he’s going to be bringing the Funk to the Hollywood Walk of Fame!” added Martinez.

Clinton's journey into the world of Hip-Hop begins with the groundbreaking sound of his bands, Parliament and Funkadelic, in the 1970s. The complex layers of funk, soul, and rock that defined these groups provided a rich source of material for later Hip-Hop producers seeking to inject their beats with a dose of the P-Funk.

One of Clinton's most iconic tracks, "Atomic Dog," has become a Hip-Hop staple, sampled by artists ranging from Snoop Dogg to Dr. Dre. The distinctive growling synthesizers and infectious rhythm of "Atomic Dog" have echoed through the decades, proving that Clinton's musical vision has a timeless quality that transcends eras.

As Clinton has said, "Funk is the DNA of Hip-Hop and Rap."

More recently, Clinton collaborated with Kendrick Lamar on the influential rapper’s Grammy-winning album To Pimp a Butterfly and just appeared on Travis Scott’s latest track β€œHYAENA” from his critically acclaimed album UTOPIA."

P-Funk & 60s Psychedelica might be the 2 most ahead of their time genres.

I can’t imagine what hearing Bold as Love or Mothership Connection must have been like upon first release 🀯
