A lot of people aren't going to know how to do the forgiveness application as they got someone else to do the original application for them. Why would that person care to help them with the forgiveness process if they've already gotten their bread from them?

Not necessarily if the fraud is only getting caught after the PPP money has been dispersed. They aren't checking or verifying the information beforehand. A lot of small businesses weren't able to get the PPP loan with real documents, but people who were committing fraud with false documentation did. I know someone who literally had a 20 year business get denied the PPP loan just because he owed back taxes for a year that he had never even knew about, yet others got it with no issue whatsoever.

That's the unfairness and the failure of the PPP process.

They legit were giving out the PPP loans with the quickness, but have literally been making my mom wait months for an EIDL Loan decision while they wait on the IRS to send tax transcripts

People literally only went after the PPP loan as it was the easiest long to get without having to use real documents. The same cousin that I mentioned tried to get the EIDL as well until she found out that they were asking for tax transcripts from the IRS
