When people talk about progressive overload in your weight training, they generally mean adding 5 pounds or an extra rep or two from your last workout. Or from the last month of training.

So it's baffling that people put themselves in these situations where they're lifting a dangerous amount of weight for themselves.

If last week you pressed 80 pounds, you should be stronger this week. But you're probably not pressing 135 pounds.
