Do y'all feel that tats are cultural appropriation from the Polynesian culture?

Tattoos and "Body Adornment" in General, originated in Africa...

Before the first "Anatomically Modern" Human, even left the African continent (And populate the rest of the world).

Fair point, but I trace current tattooing practice and styles from the Euros adapting it from their interaction with Polys.

The patterns and rites associated with tattoos and scarification on the Continent are something distinct and separate, to me.
