I'm going to be that guy: having met a number of trans people over the years (used to work at a non profit and anyone in Chicago knows Uptown is in proximity to Boystown/North Halsted which is LGBTQ town), most of them are not on the fukk shyt. They are non confrontational and misgendering them isn't blown up. The folks like this are extra special, tbh. The man even gave them a chance to tell him who they were and they make it a bigger issue.
Lots of people are willing to identify folk as their chosen gender but these special cases blows the whole shyt up. Its really not a given that interacting with someone who is trans will result in this kinda shyt.
I have to say my experience is the same, I've offered my criticisms on here before, see some threads about JK Rowling, but in general the people I'm critical of are legitimate psychopath weirdos on social media.
the few that I've encountered in real life really just want you to call them Jacinda or some shyt and I couldn't give a single fukk what anyone wants to be called.
