Whether we choose to donate or not, agree with what Cole's gofundme was established for or not I see a much deeper issue here. I read Ayo's post, dapped it because I agreed with many of his points and then it hit me that I fell for the okey doke and got angry at myself. Let me explain.
So a good man that works with at risk kids that live in a group home is shot and robbed for prized possessions and is left bed ridden, unable to walk or work for months yet doesn't ask for any help from us at all when it happens (no gofundme to replace his music laptop, far more important than the Xbox). He just updates the community he is a part of on his situation and recovers in silence.
Cole Cash came up with an original idea and dope concept for a street fighter themed album. He put his time, money, talent and efforts into making a unique album and a white poster here actually contacted Capcom, alerted them to him using their themes and music from the game causing them to send him a cease and desist blocking him from releasing it commercially. A fukking anonymous white poster stopped a potentially big revenue stream for him and his family for no reason at all. He still gave us great songs for free after that when he could have walked away from thecoli.
A fan tries to raise some help for him for a video game system for his son and it's a problem? I see white people supporting white people all the time on fundraising sites for the most asinine shyt ever. They even support the killers of innocent black men, with money for lawyers, new houses and weddings (Zimmerman, Darren Wilson).
Then a random white former drug addict comes in here and disrespects and totally shyts on a man of color for no reason, when he could have just not responded to the thread and you guys are cool with that? Can anyone dig up Ayo shytting on any of the suspected white supremacist in any thread before? Or post links of him in the gofundme comments of them chastising white people for donating them?
No disrespect to Ayo, you have been a good poster up until this point and I don't know him or Cole personally but this is literally cointelpro agent behavior. A white man is on a board based around black culture, full of black people, trying to stop us from supporting a fellow brother in his time of need. Using a literal white supremacist talking point "he needs to pull himself up by the bootstraps and stop looking for handouts" after he was fukking shot! Not layed off, not relapsed, the man was shot and may not walk ever again! Any bullet entering your body can end your life and Ayo's telling him to go get a job or sell his moms iPad. After he gave us a free album, collaborated with many artist here and gave them free beats and has been nothing but positive since being here. I bring up cointelpro because Ayo argument is very convincing but I had to look at the timing of his post and more importantly the why. Why do you have to chastise and convince us not to support him? Who over the course of history do not like to see black people support their fellow brothers and sisters. Why were so many white people on this site and across the internet so angry when we decided to bank black in masse? And why?
Cole is in here apologizing for trying to make his son smile. How foul up is that? Why is it a problem for Cole to try to continue to strengthen the bond with his son? Who over the course of history has done everything in their power to break the bond between black fathers and their sons?
Why is a white poster on a hiphop board the most vocal in his displeasure of a Brazilian breh with blood of the diaspora running thru him trying to strengthen the bond with his child while he is bedridden? This is a serious question I want all of you to ask yourselves. Maybe because I'm a woman I'm too analytical and looking at this too deeply and/or emotionally so if I am out of line please let me know. But I have never seen anything like this here before.
If you thought Cole was on some bullshyt with his gofundme it takes nothing to just X out the thread. I open threads all the time, don't agree with what's said in them and just go to the next one. There is no reason to be negative to someone I don't agree with when I can easily post words of support and encouragement to some that I do agree with. We all saw
@FreshAIG help blow Taxstone and his podcast up without getting a shoutout or any public acknowledgement to him or the coli at all, he just saw someone from his borough grinding and gave support. That doesn't mean he agrees with his point of view on everything or his tactics but as a black man he saw a brother working and help spread the word. I also saw Fresh do that for Troy Ave and Bobby Shmurda before anyone outside of their neighborhoods gave a shyt about them. Just do a search and check the first person to make threads on them and their music. 100,000s of views all because he took 10 minutes out of his day to make simple post on them and their music. Ask him if he ever got a coin from them for that. It shouldn't fukking matter, you support your own. You support People from the same places and circumstance that you and/or your family come from. Because if you have ever been thru the struggle and make it out, all you want to do is reach back and help others still in the mix get themselves out of those dire situations. And it doesn't take money, it may just be a retweet, a Facebook post, and IG post or in our case a Coli Thread. That is theColi at it's best and why I proudly put my peers onto the site.
This is the most divisive thing I've seen on here and I can't believe dude felt the need to embarrass Cole at his lowest point. Cole even made a joke with the thread title because he was obviously embarrassed to be asking for help from the jump. To make Cole never want to come back to this site and kick it with his people because he was man enough to humble himself to ask for help at his lowest point is despicable behavior. Do you know what it takes for someone with pride to ask for help? It hurts more than needing the help in of itself. I know he is a proud man because he willingly paid rappers out of his own pocket to rap on his beats on a project that he was releasing for free. That is the complete opposite of a bum, or a lazy man, or a begger etc. As black people we know that white people as a whole lack empathy. And we are in here cosigning this heartless shyt.
I would say sorry for the wall of words but this hit my heart and I typed what my heart told me to. This world and the people in it are truly fukked up.
