SOHH.. the "keep it real at all times" culture is not a good way of life.
Being ready to set it off any time of day or night vs any number of opponents in any location is somewhat impressive. But since it literally leads to destruction, it's more of a super ignorant version of bravery.
Essentially you've decided to face utter destruction at some point, and you gonna jump head first into it when it comes.
Some people call that dumb. A mean dog is something like this, but it's well known that mean dog vs moving car or a horse or a much bigger dog is just a suicide mission by a being that cannot control itself.
Art of War has some very good ideas about how to treat conflict and warfare. Tzu explicitly states that literal fight is the last thing you wanna do. And you engage in actual combat only when you KNOW you have the victory and it's not gonna cost you a lot to make it happen.
A victory at the cost of half your army is no victory.
Military might is most useful when it discourages your would be foes from EVEN TRYING IT. Like the US nuclear arsenal. It's very good if it forever keeps anyone from pressing the button. And so far...
But
If we ever have to use it, then it will have failed. Cause we will win the conflict, but we will win the prize of a totally fukced wasteland.
