I am speaking from a mainstream perspective. You are right about how the disease was characterized when he caught it and the mainstream media tried to use him as the proof that it wasn't just a gay disease...A big, strong, masculine (ll) basketball star got it from fukkin a bunch of bytches was the narrative. Of course nikkas was like but you would be really hard pressed to find someone in the mainstream doing any thing other than Magic. Also the gay rumors about Eddie didn't really pick up until he got caught giving that poor little lost tranny a ride home. Magic has never been caught up like that.
