Good thread, good debate. This is a tough one, but I'm leaning towards NWA on it.

Production: NWA, and it's not even close. I preferred Dre's production on efil4zaggin over his Chronic/2001 material. I prefer the aggressive early 90's over the more chilled music that followed it.

Lyrics: Cube era NWA easily. Cube-less era, Geto Boys slightly. I liked Ren and D.O.C.'s lyrics but Face/Dee/Bill were slightly more on point to me. Plus they had more responsible social commentary than the Cube-less NWA.

Unashamed Unabashed Ignorance: Tie. You're talking, She Swallowed It vs Bushwick talking getting his a$$hole licked. You ever get a visual of that? A black midget with one eye and dreads getting his a$$hole licked? Wille Dee not paying for p*ssy vs. Ren encouraging the punching of hoes in the eye when they're not entirely truthful about giving head? Tough one.

Impact: NWA

Longevity: In the end, Cube is an entertainment triple threat. Dre is probably the greatest producer in Hip Hop. Eazy's legacy is more cemented than Bill's, and him owning his own label preceded J.Prince's ownership. Ren had a longer run than Willie Dee. Although Willie had a sucessful radion show and owned land in Arab lands I believe.

Look I'm from Houston I love The Geto Boys like no other but the members of the group had a revolving door when it came to who was actually in the group and I can't believe yall want to bring up Willie D's solo to prove yall point. I guess we gonna ignore Cube's run of classic solos. NWAs impact can't be denied. nikkaz4Life was my favorite album and Til Death Do Us Part and Grip It On That Level for Geto Boys

you could make the same 'revolving door' argument about NWA

300 murders a year
im rolling with n.w.a

they are basically the architects of everything the geto boys attempted to do

but other things factor in.

first off n.w.a have 2 undeniable classics that are arguably top 10 in hip hop history.

the only albums imo that even stand close to those two nwa albums are we cant be stopped, and til death do us part. but those albums overall are not touching nwa 2 albums on any level

production nwa>>>geto boys

lyricism mc ren/ice cube>>>>>>scarface/bushwick bill

add on the fact the whole blue print in how geto boys constructed they albums was taken from what nwa did before them.

and as far as timeless classics, geto boys older albums sound very outdated. only til death do us part have a timeless feel, where as both nwa albums stand out sonically as great albums even today.

so im going with nwa, even though im a huge fan of the geto boys

Not really. Cube just left. They didnt add anyone else. Both Bushwick and WIllie D left and came back on The Foundation. Speaking of which this just came on my shuffle.

NWA

better music, bigger impact, better solo albums, Straight Outta Compton can't be fukked with, ect

I would only pick the Geto Boys if I wanted to just show love to Texas or just to show respect to Scarface or something because they sure weren't better.

and you can't just write off Cube leaving like it was whatever. dude was obviously responsible for more than just his rhymes ("Ice Cube writes the rhymes that I say...). in fact he left because he felt he wasn't being compensated for all the work he did

the way I see it, 'the real' NWA had one album
