On the topic, I hated English. I hate subjective courses, period. Give me something like Biology or Math anyday - something that there is no grey area in - you either know it, or you don't. Professors are only human, and they're not immune from exercising bias. Whether or not your English prof likes you, had an upset stomach while they were grading your paper, had just gotten into with a spouse, or read the best paper they'd ever seen before they got to yours, all of that can play a factor in the grade you receive. I knocked English out and never looked back.
Not to mention the unnecessary elaborating and bullshyttin they want you to do. Why you want a 3 page paper on something I can clearly articulate in one page?
