No way you can just get an internship without education.

Your best bet is getting your commercial driver's license imo.

this! cosign to the fullest. got a family member who does some commercial driving making some mean money.

another family member of mines has his taxi license and chauffeurs for the cacs in midtown making 3 stacks a week easy..

That's another one. I used to drive limos. Not as a chauffeur, more like a cab driver. Taking people from their homes and dropping them off at Newark Int'l Airport and Kennedy.

Got paid $20/hr. + tips. The tips were :banderas:, but the tolls and gas came outta my pocket until we got reimbursed.

Still was clearing about $1,000/wk with just a regular Driver's License. You need a CDL for stretch limos, but that's just more money and definitely worth it.

I don't know what would be defined as skills. I got people skills, but I don't like customer service. I may just have to compromise with myself if I wanna get a job. I like working with my hands, even though it's not a skill.

I have no idea what CV means and I don't know what the hell IT certs is. :dwillhuh:

You may want to look in starting as an apprentice for a small contractor or a carpenter. You will work hard and the pay is so-so, but you can work with your hands and it allows you to make a lot of connects. I know this one guy in my neighborhood that did that for 3 or 4 years, then he moved to Florida where he became a contractor for some McMansions and is on the verge of starting his own company and he's only 28.

You gotta network man. A lot of cats I know that have good jobs with no creds got hired due to a friend or something of that nature.

That was in the golden age before human resource departments were overhauled to filter out thousands of resumes with the click of a button.

A connection in 1995 is a keyword in 2013.

I wouldn't know anything about all that considering I was 8 in 95 and the people who grew up with me were around the same age as me, so it must still be working in some places.

It really depends upon the field in question.

Gang violence...
Not needed. That's the position I hold now, but I have 6 Certifications in the industry all gained through On-the-Job Training.

You should note that the position is actually for a Supervisor.....

I lead a team of 5 Auditors and 3 teams of Installers. No degree.
could a non-degree having, "shyt job" working person even make it past the resume screeners without something on his resume containing keywords for the job?

in other words, did you start out with something on your resume that made them overlook the lack of degree, or where you in the same boat as the OP was when you got the job?

The military is an option. If you don't spend a lot and live in the barracks, then you can save more than in a civilian job where no degree is required.
Depends. There are technical jobs out there where you can get training at a tech school. There's trucking school to drive tractor trailers.

The outsourcing and elimination of factory work is going to be the catalyst that finishes off this country.

Most people who WOULD work in manual labor industries are left with little else BUT the military. The military is always accepting applicants, provided they're in the proper physical shape.

But the government who pays for them is headed toward financial disaster.

And who are these trained gunmen going to turn to when their pay checks cease to exist?

I started out with no experience whatsoever in the field. Only things in my favor were my ability to use Windows, small hand tools like a drill and tape measure, and a valid driver's license.

Factory work disappered when the minimum wage was always artifically raised.
Another liberal feel good policy which has failed.

See Obamacare

You can't outsource without deregulation.

See Reagan and Bush. Phaggot.
