I think getting older is a blessing. Many people don't make it until the prime of their adulthood years, let alone their golden years.

Every blue moon, I think about how I managed to escape violence as a youth, teen and young adult, especially when violence peaked in certain areas in a city.

I think about how I used to go to the Compton swapmeet back in the 80s coming from Long Beach and seeing MOB Piru hitups on the wall behind the swapmeet or during the late 80s and every early 90s driving up Santa Fe to Comption Blvd and making a left not knowing I was in Santana Blocc hood to visit a teenhood homie not thinking that I could easily get sweated, accosted or killed by gang members.

Point is.

As a Black man who managed to live a fairly decent life and not have to deal with too much drama, I have a lot to be thankful for..

Life for damn sure could have been a lot worse or my life could have ended before life began...

I say anyone who reads this need to be thankful for whatever you have accomplished in life. Life can get better for all of us if we want it to be better.

Just how I see it....

I was thinking lately one of the sad things about getting older is how less people share your social memories. Fewer and fewer people are around to appreciate the significance of past non-major events, fads, movies and songs that were huge for a minute, etc.

There was a thread on here about Tyson hanging out with teenaged Ricky Schroeder and Alfonso Ribero, and youngset in here had no clue they were on a show together in the 80s.
