Everytime in the past I applied at a 90%+ white company as the only black guy there I never got the job.

All the times in the past I applied at a company with some diversity I got the job 9 times out of 10.

One of the reasons I was happy to move out or Pittsburgh to NYC. I've had more professional success as a black man here in New York in 5 years of living there than I had in 26 years or living in Pittsburgh.

How many jobs have you had? :patrice:

If they ask you,"where do you see yourself in five years?" ... tell them with a straight face, "right here at this company.. I've always wanted to be apart of a company like this", or something to this effect. It could be bullsh*t and you have different feelings inside but you have to sell yourself and make that company sound like the 'best thing since sliced bread'. Damn near like that company is the best thing that happened to you. Don't bring up any serious hobbies or personal shyt cause they'll think you really don't have time for the job and you'd rather do something else. So make it less about you and more about what you can do to help them and the company. Like I say you might could give two shyts about that company cause really you just want a job and a paycheck but don't show that at all during an interview. Whites, and most companies in general, just want to here what you can do for them to improve their lifestyle/company

I'm here to work......that's what I tell my supervisor everytime I get a question about the job...and I work. When I get home, I don't think about the job until I have to go back.

They're gonna come at you on some slick shyt. Hold your head, creh:sadcam:

I did well on the interview. After they saw me, the position starts at 40k now... :patrice:

Said they contact me by this time next week.

I'm going to take it if they give me an offer. It beats my struggling sound treatment business. I got to get a steady check for now and regroup. :snoop:

You in IT?

I have a computer science degree. I worked for NCR years ago in IT and got fired. Young and dumb.

I had a hard time breaking back into the field so I got into production and process management.

Been in the production/manufacturing business for about 8 years. Made good money, 40+k.

Been in business for myself for about 4 and a half years. Things starting to get rough...

So back to the CAC man I go for a while...

Time to hit glassdoor and see what they're paying. Go through the process, if you get the offer it's time to negotiate better pay.

That's some bullshyt, try and negotiate to 50k at the least, they clearly see value in you and have already shown their hand (by initially advertising the role @ 60k)
