How is this a win? Last thing Africa needs is a chernobyl disaster.
That was over 30 years ago. I'm sure there have been advancements since then, although an accident did happen in Japan a few years ago.

It's a disaster waiting to happen, and if check out the f(n)ukushima thread above, you will see plants are ............ constantly "leaking"....:leostare:

Why even risk it.

I'm happy for the citizens of Ghana.
Energy independence and use of nuclear energy, should be the plan for all african nations. Get that nuclear energy and sell their oil raw and refined to europeans and americans for a killing.

I prefer renewable energies to nuclear, myself. But the Continent should be able to build, maintain, and operate all forms of energy. At the very least, know how.
They have plenty of places to store the waste, what are you talking about.

Solar doesn't work when it's cloudy or dark out. It's a supplement at best.

This is a step in the right direction IMO, but where Ghana really needs to invest is in its grid. I'm almost certain that's where the problems are. Obviously not as clickbaity or sexy as generation, but ultimately you have to get the power to the customer.
I concur 100%
