If you really think about it, Ghenghis Khan is one of the reasons why Europeans got access to gunpowder technology, papermaking, and printing:jbhmm:. Those technologies are one of the main reason why Cacs were able to come out on top via gunboat diplomacy:yeshrug:. Once the mongol empire was established, the Khan's allowed traders to freely move around the empire that encompassed the middle east, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and East Asia. The technology eventually made it's way to merchants from the Italian city states (Venice, Florence etc.). This is one of the main reasons why the renaissance started in Italy. Before Ghenghis Khan the Muslims were blocking Europeans from getting access to Asian markets (hence the constant fighting between the Holy Roman empire and the Muslims).

Shyt is wild when you really think about it. Ghenghis Khan also prevented an Arab led world because up until the mongo invasion, Baghdad was the center of math and science at the time:ohhh:. The mongols ended up sacking Baghdad:lolbron:.
I'm not really the most educated on this topic, but I want to know what HL thinks. Let's discuss:jbhmm:.
Edit: Ghenghis Khan also led to Cacs getting access to compass technology from China:francis:

I also forgot to mention, that Europe didn't acquire compass technology until after Ghenghis Khan as well. The Chinese created the compass. The compass allowed Cacs to start their "Age of Imperialism" where they ended up sailing to other continents and targeting people. Shyt is wild when you really think about it:gucci:. The compass and gunpowder technology gave Cacs too much power:francis:

Imho, Africa not having its own Ghenghis Khan/Kim Yushin/Qin Shi Huang is part of why Africa was such easy pickings for Euros. Those men all crushed the small tribal fifedoms and united vast amounts of land under a single culture. Small tribes are easy to play on each other.

Not really, our geography was the reason why. We got cutoff from a lot of innovations from ancient Greece and Egypt due to our location.
The Romans were able to develop because of Greek/Egyptian knowledge. The Muslims gained power by translating ancinet Greek/Egyptian findings in Math and Science. Europeans duroing the renaissance were able to develop by studying ancinet Greek/Egyptian works. They even had a term for people studying ancient Greel/Egyptian findiings: Philosophers.

If we had been in contact with Egypt/Ancient Greece via trade we would be in a better position:yeshrug:. The only country that managed to develop without ancient Greek/Egyptian knowledge was China. :yeshrug:. Having your own Ghenghis Khan doesn't do anything if you have no technology. Ghenghis Khan was able to conquer all of Asia and Eastern Europe because kidnapped Chinese scientists from the Jin and Song dynasty (they helped him perfect catapult technology and gunpowder:francis:). The mongols were experts at siege warfare for that reason:francis:.

Also before you call me a "c00n" you have to realize that the main reason why civilizations popped up around Greece and Egypt was because back then rivers such as the Nile and Euphrates were the only way for humans to settle down and start forming communities (river valleys and fertile plains means that people can farm and specialization can occur; no more need for hunter gatherers).
So yes, Africa was doomed by the continent itself

That's true that a lot of SSA was cut off due to large impassable jungles. The Congo river wasn't the best for irrigation. Lack of tech helped leave Africa open to Euro conquest, but I still think that a unified culture would have helped immesurablt and that tribal conflict hurt Africa a lot.
