What the hell are you talking about?

That person is referring to the style of dress nothing more.

It’s wild that people missed the entire point. Especially since old Justin Timberlake clips and stories are going viral with him wearing corn rolls and baggy clothes, beatboxing, and trying to act “down”. It’s the entire point of the phrase “Everybody wants to be black. But nobody wants to be black”. People love to adapt the styles of urban black culture while shytting on urban black culture. As people are doing in this very thread.

Y’all are reading too deeply into this. If you think about this strictly from a fashion standpoint, many subculture trends spread into the mainstream. So this is true, but every trend goes in and out of style. The suburban/preppy look also goes in and out of style. Especially post internet. Many people of different backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities adopt the same styles.
You’re not reading enough into it, is the problem…

You dummies want to flaunt your anti Blackness and give a negative connotation to anything Black.
More like dumb asses like you refuse to admit the problems in our communities. You would rather see them and ignore them just so you don’t feel like you’re saying something “negative”.

Will you ever in life be truthful with yourself or will you get old and die living a lie just to try to act like a lot of our people aren’t shytty individuals?

I hate to say this and I love black women, but no the whole world looks down on you. The negative reflection you put out to social media reflects heavily on all of us.

And the crazy thing about it, is that other race of people don't claim the negativity of some of their people. But them clowns are quick to say this is how all black people behave.

Just think about all the bullshyt laws they put in place and all the bullshyt stories they write to control the narrative of black people.

The main reason the hood/street culture is so popular is obviously because of rap music.

Take away the mass media marketing machine and you'll find out quickly that lots of people don't really mess with the hood/ghetto /street culture as much as you may think. They may mess with it when they're young and impressionable but grow out of it when they get to a certain age.

Some of you were sagging your pants below your butt back in the day but now you :scust: when you look at old pictures of yourself.

If rap was full of Lauryn Hill , Jean Grae, Queen Latifah & RapSody type of females , the ghetto ratchet type of female wouldn't be so idolized.

If rap was mainly Lupe , Common , Mos Def & Talib Kweli type of rappers, the street thug image wouldn't be so idolized.

Whatever's given the biggest platform will always be idolized to a certain degree and gives that specific group of people something to be proud of.

White people have never needed a reason to “look down on us”. It’s crazy how fast people forget about Minstrel Shows, Aunt Jemima, and Stepin Fetchit. These women are not public figures. They are just living their lives and wearing the things of their subculture. And they are completely accurate that those styles are adapted by mainstream while they themselves are shytted on by mainstream society, including other Black people.
