:jbhmm: I don't think we've had a thread about this besides a few posters saying they prefer one of the albums on various Project Pat appreciation threads. Project Pat has always been in my top 5 southern rappers off the strength of Mista Don't Play alone. :blessed: I hear nothing but praise for these albums which is what they deserve. If you think these albums are wack there is something wrong with you:francis::ufdup:
I would have to go with MDP off the fact that it introduced me to everything hypnotize related. Mystic Stylez, Chapter 1, etc. I never heard anything like it before. At the time I was used to the G-funk sound & the Boom bap beats. DJ Paul & Juicy J went in on both the albums production wise. shyt was ahead of its time and honestly it doesn't sound dated:whew:
Ghetty Green goes hard though.
Out There:whew:
You Know the Biss:dj2:
We Gon Rumble:ohlawd:
Ghetty Green is a southern classic
Mista Don't Play though is just an all around classic in my opinion. The album never gets boring & has no skips.
Hearing If You Ain't From My Hood for the first time:wow:
Nothing like it. Mista Don't Play is honestly the best hypnotize album, a top 5 southern album, & in my personal top 10.
So what does the Coli think:jbhmm: there is no wrong answer

This a great thread OP but I give Mista Dont Play the edge simply because it had a little higher quality production but Ghetty Green was definately better in terms of lyrics and how raw and hungry this nikka Pat sounded, especially on a song like Ghetty green itself... the story telling was authentic on Ghetty Green where as Pat was just coming out of his bag on MDP on songs like Aggrevated Robbery. Still the beats on MDP still resonate with me till this day so imma edge it. Gold Shine i still bump tho daily :salute:

I see them as equals. Mista don't play is lyrically superior and covers more concepts while ghetty green is harder, raw, and uncut from start to finish.

Ghetty Green

Mista Don't Play is dope as fukk as well but its probably gonna gonna get voted for most because it was commercially successful thanks to "Chicken Head".

Ghetty Green tho...damn....

"North Memphis" intro and "Out There" alone are just...:wow:

"What's the Bizness" , "We Gone Rumble", "N* got me fukked Up" (old mixtape and classic Memphis samples) :blessed:

Choppers and Ballers (Mannie Fresh)....:whoo:

The uplifting "Choices"...:banderas:

"Slang in Rocks" and my favorite story telling song of all time "528-CASH" :whew:

The weakest song was the Posse Song and it was still dope.

MDP got classics as well...but this shyt right here?!

This shyt been blessing me since 99...

I was just thinking about this last week and even though Mista Dont Play has some classic tracks I think Ghetty Green is the better album. That shyt just rides IMO.
North Memphis, Out Here, Whatever Ho, Choices, Slangin Rocks, You Know The Bizness, We Gon Rumble, Choppers, Ballers Remix, 528 Cash, man that album is fukkin classic. Pat did that shyt.

I had to go with MDP off top, but I'm going to go back and bump GG again and might change my mind. A tough call for sure

EDIT: Nah I'm sticking with MDP
