Doesn't look like they're doing anything particularly new with combat, but it doesn't look bad. Pacing is varied which will keep it from becoming stale. As far as stances go, I hope that you dont need to play rock paper scissors and always pick the stance that counters the enemy type.

if you want some violence: Lady Snowblood, 13 assassins, Lone wolf and cub (first 2 movies at least).
