It’s not going to be some revolutionary game like TLOU2. This will be a standard by the books game, and that’s fine by me. I’m going for a solid 8/10.

As long as I can remember anything less than a 7 was considered trash by the masses. Same as American school grading scale. Idk how far back you're taking "these times", but I remember in IGNs heyday everybody joking they wouldn't give a big AAA less than a 7 (really an 8) for that reason.

I disagree with that system applied to games, and honestly as I get older I prefer journalistic reviews with no score. Because I know that negative system is embedded in me from childhood

Currently 84 on metacritic. Looks like it might settle at around 80 which is what most people expected.
Hopefully it sells very well and Sucker punch takes in the criticism to give us a better sequel.

Then I would say they were wrong.
I just checked...they gave it a 9.25....that’s the score I would WANT to give it but to be honest...the game is an 8 and I still feel uneasy about that. The game is unfinished. I don’t think an unfinished game deserves a 9. Shoot it might even deserve a 7 if we’re grading it based on how much of the game we actually got to play. Everything they did they knocked out the park up until the point Konami pulled the plug.

same-ish...I stick to 7.5 and above unless I see something about the gameplay I really like
