I think he wanted to get them to join him willingly....Co-op them so to speak...

I read the other day that this was about the first attempt by the Mongols. Like 30,000 troops or something.
A few years later they showed up with over 100,000

Its actually interesting as fukk. Those failed invasions of Japan set off a lot of events that led to the Mongol Empire's eventual collapse. It was a needless flex too really.

The Mongols had just curb stomped Korea and were well on their way to completely subjugating Southern China. The massive fleets that they sent to Japan from both areas with Mongol regulars and leadership split among the remnants of the Korean navy and makeshift crews from South China. They didn't even arrive at the same time. Some of the outlying islands got ran over, but mainland Japan just had to hold out until typhoon season. Both fleets was decimated and the Mongols never really established a real beachhead.

shyt made the Khan look weak for the first time ever. Stagnated the empire. Downhill from then on.

What difficulty? Like others have said, I bumped it up and it's a welcomed challenge.

SMH, I've been playing from Day 1 with my surrounds turned off as I unplugged them by mistake. Man the fukking audio when you're in the forest is A1!
