Hollywood isn't out of ideas, they just don't have any balls.

They get tons of scripts with new exciting ideas but they often pass on them because it's easier to stick to a formula. Occasionally one studio exec will have the balls to take a risk and try something different but if it's a success every other studio just tries to copy what they did.

Everybody says that, but the fact is a lot of those ideas are shytty ideas. They have marketing people who understand how people (Americans) think, there's a reason most of those scripts don't get made into movies. They suck, or Americans won't get it. Indie movies come out often with some of those ideas you're talking about and they rarely make any money.

You're the one in here complaining about Hollywood being out of ideas. You can't complain about them not doing anything new but then say the new and different ideas all suck.

Indie movies shouldn't be judged in the same way the big budget films are judged. If a movie only cost 2 million to make but brings in 30 million that's a pretty big success.

And for the record studios are caring less and less about what American audiences think. A movie could underperform or outright bomb in the U.S. but be a huge success overseas.

“Haha a bunch of people asking what my Ghostbusters 3 pitch would’ve been. I never had a full one, just a skeleton I’ve goofed around with. My Ghostbusters 3 began in the 1920s with Ivo Shandor murdering a gluttonous associate to protect his cult after he has a moral objection. Shandor tells the overweight man that nothing can stop the coming of Gozer; first, the gate will open in 1984, then again twenty years later. The fat man, who now has all the details of Shandor’s plans, threatens to go to the police, and Shandor poisons him. It’s scary, but As Shandor escapes, we see that we’re in the Sedgewick Hotel, and that the guy we just saw die… …Is Slimer. Cue theme. Show title.”

:ohlawd: they need to hire this dude asap
