"Ghostface Killah has cleared up rumors stirred up by the Hulu series Wu-Tang: An American Saga that he and Raekwon had beef before joining the Wu-Tang Clan.

On the latest episode of Gorilla Nems’ Outside With Gorilla Nems series, Ghostface set the record straight and revealed he never had any issues with his Wu-Tang brother before their rap fame.

Fans were led to believe there was friction between the duo after the aforementioned Hulu series portrayed them as violent enemies during their youth in Staten Island, New York.

Ghost and Rae’s on-screen beef was so intense that they even wanted to kill each other, but they managed to bury the hatchet and find common ground, which led to them joining Wu-Tang.

According to Ghost, however, that part of the show’s storyline is far from the truth. “Me and Rae never had beef,” he clarified. “Me and Rae never had no problems. It was just the way them characters got switched around.”

When one of the hosts suggested Ghostface and Raekwon probably “laugh” about how they’re depicted in the series, Tony Starks replied: “I mean, I don’t laugh about that shyt because that shyt ain’t my story! But you know, Rae, that’s my bro. I love him. We had chemistry, like he taught me a lot of shyt, a lot of slang ’cause up where they’re from, they had too much slang.”

RZA previously spoke about the historical accuracy of Wu-Tang: An American Saga in 2019, telling Newsweek the show was “historical fiction” and that “you can’t take every moment and expound it.”

However, in 2012, RZA told the Los Angeles Times that Ghostface and Raekwon “started off as enemies in the neighborhood” but became best friends afterward.

Rae backed up that claim in a 2013 interview with VladTV, saying there was animosity between them because of beef between rival neighborhoods.

“If you go to the hood and you go 10 blocks away, n-ggas don’t know you, n-ggas don’t fukk with you, n-ggas will gun you if they feel like you in the way, so we always stayed on our side,” he said.

“So when RZA formed this alliance, it was definitely spoken on like, ‘Yo, I don’t really fukk with Ghost, he’s a crook.’ But when RZA was the middle guy, it was almost like he did a [John] Gotti move. He brought all the families to the table, and made n-ggas make amends, due to the fact of how we gon’ move forward and get this money.”

In season one of the Hulu series, Raekwon and his friend Power shoot up Ghostface Killah’s family apartment, which fueled their beef even more. In a separate interview with VladTV last year, Rae revealed that really happened.

As the story goes, Ghost had an issue with Rae’s friend over RZA’s brother Divine. Raekwon explained that Ghostface was trying to help out Divine, which ultimately led to the alleged shooting.

“It was an eye for an eye situation,” The Chef said. “He was like, ‘Yo shot at my crib, so…’ That’s what it was. That’s how it played out. I wasn’t around that day to see what was going on. Like I said, we know that Ghost knew RZA and Divine, but we didn’t really know that he knew ’em the way that he knew ’em.”

Rae added: “Him and RZA would hang in [Park] Hill, [but RZA would also] be in Stapleton, he would be in New Brighton. He would be all over, so you don’t know everybody RZA know. But these dudes love RZA the way I love RZA. RZA had to come in and dead the shyt because he loved both sides.”

Season three of Wu-Tang: An American Saga is set to premiere on February 15. Hulu released a trailer last week showing what the crew will get into next.

According to Deadline, season three will follow the Wu-Tang Clan’s five-year plan as they overcome various challenges following the release of their debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), and their continued rise to fame."

The crew that Ghost ran with and the crew Rae ran with had beef to the point where someone in the crew Rae was running with shot at Ghost's mom's place. To that degree, when they first had to break bread on coming together for Wu, RZA had to play the mediator and assure peace between Rae and Ghost to have them build. This has been documented in hundreds of interviews.

Ghost was RZA & Divine's main dude, but he was from Stapleton. Everyone else in the Wu camp, outside the BK faction, was out of Park Hill. If you notice from how things shook out, Ghost was the only Stapleton guy that stuck around. GP went their own way after being down on the initial jump off w/ 36 Chambers.

On the show, the gun is literally in Rae's hand shooting up the place and they play up a specific personal beef between the two characters that represents the split between the two Staten Island camps that came together to build Wu-Tang Clan. It's a way to condense a story into a few specific characters the same way they meshed RZA's many siblings into 3 or changed up the timeline so it's not a bunch of child actors as Wu's coming up in the drug game or first rhyming together when they're in their young teens.

Yeah they never had personal beef between the two of em, but there was crew beef between their teams. This has been pretty much reiterated a lot over the years. Of course the show dramatised it and made it seem like it was between the two of em, but that is just for tv.

Plus, Ghost hardly ever speaks on street shyt, which is funny cause according to the rest of the Wu, he was the livest one out of the clan.

:mjlol: I swear all them nikkas have a completely different account on what happened
Rae and Ghost just be all cryptic about it. Ghost never talks about it at all, other than the Cuban skit. Rae only tells the story on some vagueness "some ish happened", the rest of the Clan be like "yeah that ish happened. They were beefin." The story's been told numerous times through the years. But Ghost also shot up one of Rae/Power's factions house too. They would go back and forth. Ghost robbed one, or a few of them too...we just don't really know the order of events. They real OGs though. so they're always careful with what they say about street ish in interviews.

Am I wrong or didn’t someone say their crews shot at each other before the wu?

Yeah, I’ve always heard that the crews/hoods had beef in the past and then when Rae and Ghost met they quickly became good friends. The way it’s depicted in the show, Rae himself shot up Ghosts crib but that’s just a way for the show to introduce the characters. People who don’t know the real history would assume it was real that Rae himself did the shooting.
