I dunno if they wrote his shyt or not but Curren$y and Kidd Kidd were huge influences on Wayne and the main reasons he "improved" so much during that era. When they left Wayne went down the drain slowly with the forced punchlines.

people were saying his new style (at the time) was influenced by Jay

I never saw or understood that

just cuz he got better and he stans Jay doesn't mean his new style was Jay-influenced :scusthov:

maybe I'm wrong tho :ld:

True which I why I struggle with it a little. Was it influence or something more sinister? Put it this way. I once spent a long road trip listening to nothing but Currensy starting from Independence Day and then going in sequential order with the mixtapes. And near the end I felt it. Immediately threw on Carter II and said damn this is Currensy. I don't know fam. But your point is a solid one I agree with as well.

@ Tall Israeli - how could you not? Robin Thicke's All Night Long ft Wayne is probably the best example of the Jay dikkriding.

We're on the same page, :myman:
I never really payed attention to curren$y much until that Independence Day tape either but once I heard it and saw how quickly he was putting out tons of good material I realized that Wayne was at best heavily influenced and at worst simply written for.
Don't sleep on Kidd Kidd, he sounds like a Wayne circa 2006 as well

I'm hoping/guessing that you have the Squad Up series and here is 3 of his newer stuff, that I have. They are all pretty decent. Kind of like new versions of Wayne 2005 mixtapes, Lil Weeziana and the pre-fix

I never understood that neither. Maybe you can say he got more of an East Coast flow but i didn't hear any Jay-Z in him when he was at his peak. Only thing he may bit from Jigga was the similar album covers but that's about it.

I have to disagree b. That was all Pusha or at least a decent amount of coaching from him. Mercy me in that Murci-uh-lah-go. That's very, very Pushaesque. Same with the Karl Winslow punchline. Pusha is very clever and has a ton of unorthodox shyt.
