Giannis put his money where his mouth was and did what many thought he wouldn't. If i'm the Bucks though i still would be on the hunt for a premier perimeter player to pair up with him. And after this season they need to put him at the 5 and surround him by shooters at all times. He will never be a real jump shooter so they and the media needs to stop trying to make him one.

"Reporters" like this are why the NBA's ratings have been in free fall and why it will never come close eclipsing the NFL as the #1 sports league in the US. If you aren't a player or fan of the 25+ teams that aren't in Cali or LA, then the NBA media apparatus devotes 24 hours a day 7 days literally every week to nothing but vomiting out garbage "coverage" like this trash article non-stop. Why did those people even start watching? In the 80s it was all Lakers and Cs with some Philly sprinkled in. 90s was Chicago. Back to LA at turn of the century. If that was an issue for fans the NBA wouldn't be what it is. It wouldn't have viewers to lose. Beyond that, NFL coverage is straight Cowboys and Brady with the NY teams sprinkled in.
The landscape is completely different now compared to what it was back then.

Social media wasn’t prevalent back then as it is right now. Even the players are built differently mentally than they were back then. It’s prevalent in a lot sports and not the NBA is that a lot of teams are still living off of past glory and expect those expectations to still matter.
A lot of people don’t remember how the Knicks were good at one point or the Bulls or even Michigan and Tennessee for example. The allure just isn’t there anymore with those teams. Yeah it helped make the NBA what it is today, that way of doing business doesn’t work anymore.
Yeah the NBA gets clicks and content from talking about players moving to big cities, but is it really good for the league long term? Kirk Herbstreit brought up a perfect with the CFB with the same teams getting all the focus compared to everyone else. It will be the same big market teams in the playoffs while telling everyone else that they have no shot before the season even starts.
That's my point. It's like that with every sport and always has been. What is the alternative? What is the solution? Talking Pacers all day? That's gonna drive interest and ratings in the NBA?
The way they are operating now isn’t working is it? If you looked on social media media and ESPN, then you would think that the NBA is the most popular sport. Yet it hasn’t come close the popularity of the NFL and lags behind MLB in ratings.
It makes for good talk show and TV content to talk about, but it’s not translated into ratings success or moving the needle for the NBA. Lebron is a great player to talk about, but he’s not a ratings draw.

The media was pushing Bron out of Cleveland before his first game. The Decision was the result of the hype they had built for 7 years. "Where's he going" was the big story 16, not KD choking away a 3-1 lead. Like literally the next day, that was the discussion.
