Yeah they do. He leads the league in defensive rating, defensive win shares, defensive box plus minus, he’s second in defensive rebounding %, Bucks have the number one ranked defense, he’s arguably the most versatile defender in the league.

Yep its a visual and metrics difference in defense when he plays and doesn't play.

Oh boy. As long predicted, the bar has risen by multiples for Giannis instantly. The plea cops and honeymoon stage is over, expectations and scrutiny are about to be on a thousand and no fukks will be given...

MVP and DPOY Is he now top 50 all time

I think we have to see how he ends this season first. My knee jerk reaction is "no", but now it is at least debatable...

Just for a general frame of reference, most people's "last 10" of the Top 50 list in 2020 *generally* includes an assortment of the following guys (alphabetical order, not the order I think they should go):

George Gervin
James Harden
Kawhi Leonard
Kevin McHale
Reggie Miller
Gary Payton
Paul Pierce
Willis Reed
Bill Walton
Russell Westbrook
Dominique Wilkins

Looking at that list, just hypothetically if thats your Last 10 Top 50, where do you put Giannis?

For me, my frame of reference is drawn off of the four guys on here who I saw at least 50% of their careers (Beard, Kawhi, Pierce, Russ)...

Giannis has peaked higher than any of them but doesn't have the sustained excellence yet---->he's really only in his 4th year as an elite player. He's only been to one conference finals, which he lost as a favorite in embarrassing fashion. As of the moment no, he's not over any of these guys, though I think that definitely changes if he goes on a demolition run thru this year's playoffs...

If he retired RIGHT NOW, Hall Of Famer? Yes, guys have gotten in for less and he's a 2x MVP and won MVP and DPOY in the same year....

But Top 50 should be a more nuanced and thought-provoking task, more about specific actual performances in the pressure cooker, sustained excellence/longevity, how you responded in non-preferential scenarios, etc, rather than just a read of accomplishments that gets you in The Hall. At least it is for me, and by that standard he hasn't done anything of note in the postseason even once, let alone multiple times to break into that club...

This puts him close enough, as in i can conceive him somewhere between 51-100, but just for me, if my bottom Top 50 guys I've seen are the four I mentioned, Giannis is outside looking in...

:mjlol: stans ain't even worried about that.

Actually Lebron stans probably want giannis to win every award. So when the lakers beat the bucks in the finals it will help lebrons resume even more...:lolbron:

These dudes always trying to force a narrative that these things upset Bron Stans lmao....they don't...

However, these things are gonna motivate the shyt outta Bron and AD if its Milwaukee/LA in The Finals. They gonna go at Giannis jugular...

Yes his defensive on/off numbers are monstrous. The Bucks are 7.9 points worse per 100 possessions when he ain’t on the court.

He is like this generations Garnett where the teams defense was night and day when he played and didn't play.

Breh they don't even realize the bigger the opponent and the awards they have. It only makes lebron case even better when he slays them..:lolbron:

shyt just imagine if there was no shut down and the bucks won 70 games. Plus Giannis won DPOY and MVP.

Only for the lakers to beat them in 7 games and lebron winning the finals MVP. This site would shut down and the haters would be on suicide watch...

I'd argue that this is more of a result of him being one of the only elite defenders on his team rather than because he's a better defender than AD and Gobert. Bucks play great team defense but they don't have dedicated lockdown defenders like the Lakers and Jazz.

It's all good tho

I was legit trying to find any rhyme or reason for those to not be 1st and 2nd team, then I just assumed this had to be some random with no actual clout.

Come to find out these are official votes :dead:

Crazy thing is no one will say shyt. At the same time if he put down Harden, Lebron and Melo for all defensive team folks would have been bytching about dude needs to lose his vote...:dead:

Luka, Westbrook, Drummond..if he doesn't get his privileges taken away
His reasoning was because Luka gets 9 boards a game. Same reason given for Drummond over Gobert because he offers more rebounds and I believe more blocks per game. Crazy considering we all know those stats don't say shyt about actual defense.
