I think the surprise emergence of Shep is what really sealed the deal for Cruz.

Cruz would still have a job if he was the Cruz of 3 years ago.

That patellar tendon tear robbed him of his athleticism. and now he's just another guy.

Which is all the more impressive Jimmy Graham was able to come back from it.

That injury is usually one of the worst you can have.

A couple things:
- Shep didn't really blow up this season. He did not DEMAND 100 targets, or anything like that. He was good, but not excellent (as many of us hoped he'd be). I think next year is the breakout.
- Victor just can't separate right now. It can take 2+ years to get back from an injury like his, so there's a chance NEXT season, Cruz is better than he was this season. But his cap number far outweighed his possible production.

Victor Cruz is clearly not the player he once was. However, he can still be an effective player in the right situation. Cruz to the Bears, Bills, Browns, Ravens, Steelers or Texans would not work. But imagine Cruz with the Dallas Cowboys. Dak does not have the strongest arm and Cruz running the underneath routes would be beneficial for both parties. Cruz needs a team that is a piece or two away from being a Super Bowl contender. Along with Dallas, other good fits would be Arizona, Minnesota, Green Bay, Seattle, Atlanta and New Orleans.

Most of those teams already have guys who are easily better than current Cruz filling the role someone would sign him to attempt to fill. They aren't going to bring in a :flabbynsick: vet to be a 4th or 5th or 6th WR that doesn't play specials.

That said, Green Bay won't check for him, it's not their style, but they'd probably be the best fit for him to try and extend his career. Rodgers holds onto the ball longer than anyone going and can fit it in windows no other QBs can with the same consistency.
