On the "12 types of pickup basketball players" thread, some posters started giving player comps instead of one of the 12 types.
Against good competition (official city league games) I was Draymond before Draymond. Defensive specialist who can muscle guys out of the post even though I'm only 6'1" but will lock up shooters on the perimeter too. I was the 5th-tallest guy on my best city league team but started at the 5 for defense and rebounding even though we had a 6'2" guard, a 6'4" forward, and a 6'4" backup center. On offense mostly focused on setting screens and moving the ball but will hit the open three, drive on the right guy, or crash the boards for second-chance points when the opportunity arises.
Against bad competition (non-elite pickup games) I pulled my inner 1994 Scottie Pippen. Shutdown defender on one end and point forward on the other end, mixing up jump shots, drives, and 3-4 solid post moves.
Who do ya'all think of yourselves as?
my game is basically zbo like but i can go both left and right
i trash talk against sorry nikkas but get all serious and quiet against better competition![]()
I play like Trevor Ariza during his prime
Defense , 3s , limited driving ability
On offense I play like Zo I'd say. Half-court ball mover, finding open guys and cutters, trying to direct the offense and keep the flow strong. I've got very good court vision and BBIQ. Will take and make 3s off-the-catch. I have a solid handle, run a little PnR, and my athleticism lets me blitz to the rack tho unlike Zo, but I could become a better finisher and could use more moves once I get into the paint. Will set on or off-ball picks.
I like to push in transition off a rebound whether I'm leading the break and hitting an open man or I fling it up to someone leaking out.
Lockdown defender given my athleticism, strength, and relatively long arms. I hit the boards well, have good hands for steals, and occasionally pick up a block since I have good timing and can jump.
I do things that lead to Ws even if I'm not scoring many points. Need to learn to become more assertive with the ball though when my teammates are struggling. While my play helps everyone play up to their potential or better than they normally do, if they're chips then they're chips or if they're going cold I need to learn to takeover more
I've lead some shytty squads over guys who can really ball thofigure out everyone's strengths and maximize them.
Wears the "hard headed guy who plays like Russell Westbrook but can't dunk?" Cuz that's me
