they are apparently talks of a buyout...

cavs got their guy... (jarret allen)

so they might buyout both drummond and mcgee who are both likely to go to nets..

not sure they fully solve the defensive issue though

If they get Drummond they absolutely should win the title or the season is a bust

we said the same thing about harden...

and yes his rebounding is insane right now. but it also shrinks the floor. his on/off fully reflects it.

to me.. if brooklyn are willing to put joe harris on the bench and put him with joe harris.. then yes it makes sense.. but the reason they close games with jeff green and not deandre is to spread the floor.

The Lakers rebounding and rim defense has been bad this year compared to last season. If they get Drummond it makes that issue even worse for the Lakers.

that's cause AD seems injured...

and losing dwight :mindblown:

AD does not cause as much trouble as before so they arent doubling him like before.. this was allowing easy rebounds.

That would be crazy, I doubt a player in his absolute prime as good as Drummond has ever been bought out. At least not in the modern era. The Cavs could easily get a piece and a pick for him.

Plus, why would he take a buyout for less than what he's owed? He makes 25 mil a year as a 5 who can't shoot and is an average defender. He'll never get that kind of money again. No way the Cavs are shelling out anywhere near his contract value when they could just trade him.

Now that we're one quarter of the way through the year, which team worries y'all the most?
If we're assuming the current lineups, then I think the Clippers are the favorites.

Utah is looking nice but I think they'll be exposed in the playoffs
Sixers are looking nice but I think they'll be exposed in the playoffs
Nets are still a piece away - they could be terrifying if they get that piece though
Denver is decent but still not quite there
Bucks still can't put it together
Celtics still can't put it together

If the Lakers had a center and AD wasn't looking so suspect, they'd be the runaway favorites. But I think as constructed the Clippers fit together better than the Lakers do, and I don't expect them to collapse again like they did last year.

He execised his option this season, unrestricted after this season. Nobody's giving up a piece and a pick for him when they can just sign him in the summer. Cavs would only have to buyout whatever's left on the $28 million for this season. They're on the hook for it anyway, so might do it so they can give his minutes to Allen.

You can only "just sign him in the summer" if you have enough cap space to win the bidding war. And that doesn't help you this year. A team that wants to upgrade at center would definitely sign him, either just wanting his services until the end of the year or hoping to resign for next year or use as an asset in a sign-and-trade. Look around and there are numerous trade scenarios being floated of teams that would be interested.

Heck, the Cavs could even sign-and-trade him after the season for even better assets.

Like I said, there has literally never been a player as good as Drummond who was simply bought out in his prime in our era. At the very least a team will give up a different expiring contract and a 2nd round pick.

I mean, people complained when the Suns bought out washed-ass Tyson Chandler and he went to the Lakers, but y'all think a Drummond buyout would happen on the up-and-up? :deadrose:

I agree that's why I think the Lakers have to make a trade for a big at the deadline. The problem is I can't think of one that would significantly help that's realistic.
