This is my thought too. I'd be pissed too if I was a solid contributor all year and basically being told to wait on the sideline to see if other deals go through before we can offer you a minimum then ego might kick in and make me say fukk it and sign with another team that's showing genuine interest. Dwight clearly wants to compete for a title and them spots on contenders can dry up quick you got to take it while you can. I was pissed at Dwight after his tweet saying he was coming back but now after seeing the story I ain't mad at him.

I think at this point Lakers are down to only minimum deals and using bird rights so I don't think Whiteside is a possibility since I don't see him signing for a minimum.
