Without Mike Dean, Kanye's beats wouldn't be shyt?
I think it's more reasonable to assume that without Kanye, Mike Dean wouldn't be shyt.

Mike Dean is his arranger, fam. Kanye doesn't actually know how to write music notation for session musicians to play. Kanye West is what the industry calls a "Hummer", he'll hum out the melodies,counter-melodies,bass lines, chords, all that jazz for Mike Dean to transcribe on paper. Without Mike Dean songs like "All of the lights" wouldn't exist. Mike Dean is his Watson while Kanye is Sherlock Holmes

Mike Dean's production for Rap A Lot is GOAT status.

Truly one of the great producers in the game.

Those Dre vaults are so damn secured. I doubt we'll ever hear any of that shyt. That dude takes his music so seriously, he doesn't want people hearin' anything that he doesn't think meets a certain standard. I'm not mad at him for that, but as a fan, it sucks.

I don't even like thinkin' about all the music he's holding onto, that we'll never hear.

Apparently the beats on that Stat Quo album were phenomenal, maybe we'll get a few more when Bishop drops. But yeah, vaults are on some Area 51 shyt, I just hope I outlive Dre lol.

I know all about Mike Dean and what he does and appreciate it all.
Kanye has multiple arrangers, most of them a lot more focused on arranging than Mike Dean. And he can get 10 others for the same price or less. So All of the lights would still exist, cause it's in Kanye's head. Of the like 10+ different instruments on All of the lights Mike Dean arranged 1 and added some keys.

Nut as I said in my following post is that he's a deeper hiphop head than most traditional multi-instrumentalists and has an a lot more unconventional/dirty style. Which is what I and probably most people find dope.

You can say he didn't do that much for Kanye, but you definitely can't say he wouldn't be shyt without Kanye. Mike Dean made his mark in the game before we ever even heard of Kanye.
He did much for Kanye of course, it would be odd if he was in a studio for 10 years getting loot without doing anything. I was using the same language as the person I was replying to. Mike Dean was poppin in 94-96 and was nearly unknown to the generation that were dominating the rap fanbase in 04, 05, 06.. Specially outside of Texas. Instead he's now a top 3 most known multi-instrumentalist, engineer and hell probably even a top 5 most known producer (who doesn't release music) in hiphop.
