Create a better situation for yourself or deal with it...:yeshrug:
No need to for govt. intervention because you don't have enough time to binge watch Netflix.

A lot of truth to this article. And this is just hours spent working, what really gets me are the commutes. Like I've turned down jobs that I knew would leave me in bumper to bumper traffic for what is equivalent to 4 hours a day.....
And we're only talking about like 15-20 miles.

Its just not worth it. I remember a job i had a couple years, I would come home, only had enough energy to order take out and sleyep.

By half time of a basketball game I was as tired as @CSquare43 trying stay up for a warriors game.

Yeah commute can make or break you. Mine is around 27 minutes, half that being country back roads. I wish it was shorter but I've learned it's very meditating especially with classical music:wow:

I know this one nikka that I used to work with at Walmart. This fool would travel 2 hours each way:why:

You trippin, to me, the perfect commute is 30-40 minutes, I be needing that time to wake up and get my mind right to head into another bullshyt day at work. I had a 20 min commute once and would be so aggie when I arrived to work because I didn’t have enough buffer period from being at the house getting ready to being immersed in work/co workers, etc

Computers, robotics, and automation should mean there's less work to do than ever before. There's also far more wealth and money than ever, so there should be less pressure than ever before. And yet people are still being horrendously overworked.

That's one of the simplest summaries of what is wrong with this country that I've ever seen.

Hey capitalists, this is Peak Capitalism. Tell us what went wrong. Because whatever you want differently will only look WORSE than this.

Studies have shown that the ideal commute is a 15-minute walk to work.

The Ideal Work Commute Will Make You Happier and Healthier

Walking is better than public transit, public transit is better than driving. Every minute you go over 15 minutes decreases well-being. It's not in this study, but another study I read showed that an extra hour of commute in each direction decreased well-being so much that even a 50% increase in pay couldn't offset it.

I've done the extended commute thring before and it can really take a toll on you. At first it's cool, you can catch up on music/etc but after awhile, it's just an extension of your work day and it can easily kill your motivation.
Exactly that's why when people ask, if I could see myself staying in LA long term, I'm like fukk this place unless, I have the perfect setup where I avoid traffic and only commute through LAX on the first flight out at 6am.....

What really gets me is how dedicated some of these immigrants are. Like they'll come from east / south la or even as far as Santa Ana(close to Disneyland) to work for only 12-14.25 / hr everyday, to somewhere like west la or the valley, which could be anywhere from 15-60 miles dealing with traffic. Like man i wouldn't / couldn't do that. I smh when i hear some of these commutes especially for low pay.

Yeah i do that already. I listen to jazz and podcast.
But there's nothing more soul crushing than the rat race of trying get home in congestion. Everyday its the same idiots trying defy the laws of physics to get ahead, when there's no where to go.

Its like this can't be life.

Lower the work day to 6 hours per day, 4 days a week. Dont give a fukk what corporate owners say
We'd probably be more productive. Actually I'm sure ive read studies that have said as much happens.

People can be more effective and efficient are less prone to mistakes.

Plus there's a lot of bsing and circle jerking at work a lot. Can't tell you the amount of incompetencey I've seen at least in the public sector @DEAD7. I legit know people who only do what is equivalent to 20 minutes of work a day.

The rest of the time is spent bsing.

But employers ignore these studies and rather work their workers till they drop dead from unnatural causes.

Really interested in learning more on this. I work in Digital Marketing.

Grew up in the inner-city until I was 18. Went to college. Now that I’ve spent some time working in a larger more metropolitan city, having access to more resources, better food, quality of life, etc. I’m noticing some of politics change and adjust a bit.

15 min walk would be cool for the flexibility, but I’m happy with a 30 min commute, that’s reasonable and took no toll on me...

Damn...I just got home at 8:30. I was at work an extra 3 hours just trying to lighten my load for tomorrow. Man, I'm starting to have anxiety.

Don't take this the wrong way. What are you doing that's so important you have to work 3 extra hours? OT?
