gkmc doesnt have a song thats better than high power or adhd or keishas song

I like Sing About Me/Dying of Thirst better than all of those tracks.

That's just my subjective opinion, tho. Just like your post is mostly subjective.

:usure: They reflect how the majority feels, let the lurkers have their voice heard too.

I'm also guessing they'll reflect GKMC >>>> S80 by at least 2-1.

:childplease: Lukers/bandwagon riders = the mfers I'm talking about , most just support Kendrick cause its the "cool" thing to do now .

I'd say the bandwagoners were the ones getting on board during the S80 hype.

So people support music they don't actually like because it looks cool?:what:

Was about to make this thread so ill just post it here instead.

Section 80 > Good kid m.A.A.d. city

This post is not so much about the the albums it self. More about the way we talk about music on the albums and dotn respect eachothers opinion.

What I want to adress is the non existent music discussion on this messageboard. Yes we have the rapper/album/song A is better then rapper/album/song B talks.
But reading the thread I see a failing music forum. All i see is hating and trolling and overhyping. No strong arguments to back up your opinion or no back and forth discussions.
Yes there are a few threads that sometimes live up to this but they often die after two pages because the users are just writning "this artist is great" and another one is replying "agreed".

Back to the Section 80 > Good kid m.A.A.d city statement.

This is a opinion of mine but it seems like people have a problem with me and others not celebrating the release of the "greatest hip hop album ever". If I call it a 3.5 album people call me a hater or post ridiculous smileys.
Not even reading what i got to say or why i feel this way. I kind of understand this reaction since there are alot of trolls on this forum seeking attention but atlest be open and read what others got to say.
I belive GKMC is overhyped but i see why people love it so much.

- The Storyline/message
- His unique way of putting words together
- Flow
- Hooks
- Alot of the smooth beats.
- His energy
- The feeling of hes put alot of time and effort into this.

But does this automaticly put it in the 4.5-5 category? For some, yes. For me? No.

And here is why. When im listening to a new album im not listening to it im puting the music critc of me aside and just trying to get the vibe of the album (not trying to reflect and analyze about things like "the story").
For me the every song on MKMC is good, some even great. But out of context, listening to them without the rest of the album they lose their magic. Some may say its a unfair way of judge a song or a album this way. You could be rigth,
but for me this is way of testing if i will play the songs for a long time. I often imagine myself being on a consert watching the songs being preformed. Im not saying a song is bad if it wouldnt work on a consert, but many times it
gives an idea of how strong the song is.

When i go back and dont wanna listen to something from the GKMC album i chose 'bytch, dont kill my vibe', 'Backseat freestyle' (didnt like before the album but i cant help singing along to it),'The art of peer pressure' and
swimming pools (sometimes also 'money trees' and 'Maad city').

Section 80 have more flaws but the same flaws make it so raw. it makes it charming. Section 80 Have so many more "strong" songs. I wont go into detail because it is allready a long post, but the feeling on for example
fukk your ethnicity' (compare it to GKMC's intro), 'ADHD' (80's babys anthem) and 'Hiii Power' (compare to GKMC's outro) is missing.

Some would still say sure, but the story and concept on GKMC still makes it superior. I dont see how. Telling the story about how 1. you about to fukk a girl 2. gets checked 3. your friend gets shot 4. an old lady "saves" you,
over a whole album with the help of skits of your friends and parents talking will not make me like the songs more or less.

Many is comparing it to a movie so lets take it there. Just because a movie have a good story, great actors and shot in a beautiful way dosent have to make me like it. It sure helps but so much more is playing a part. Like movie
'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy', Many great actors, a good story where you didnt know who the bad guys was, so almost automaticly alot of critics rated it good. But when i watched it, I found it boring (not saying MKGC is boring).
Sometimes i like stupid comedies more then 'by the book'-"great movies".

I wont go into the prehype how that could play apart of it, and how it is the first "underground"/backpacker album in the mainstream in along while.

Like I said i, see why people like GKMC so much and dont get me wrong I enjoy it to. I first called it 3.5 album but after a few more days of listening ill give it a 4 since it grew on me and it have all the rigth elements.
But i still like listening to section 80 more.

Closing statement:

Section 80 has better songs, GKMC is a "better" album.

It's a more cohesive album which almost always means I'll like it best. Album sort of reminds me of American Gangster in the way that it flows, and songs play better within the context of the album than as singles
