Hip Hop is the only genre that divides itself up into locations and regions.

I'm from NYC, rep it crazily, but we really gotta stop doing that dumb sh*t.

Two things. People need to stop hating on NY 24/7. And we need to start paying more attention to what's dope and what's wack. F*ck where you're from. Too many dudes got on over the past 20 years just because they were from a place that was thriving, but they were trash.
Truth.

And me being from the Midwest, I was never on that type of bullshít. If it was dope, I was coppin'. East, West, South, Midwest, etc. I didn't fuçkin' matter to me.

But this is why it's dumb to do.

Because then we start getting into the regional sh*t again, and start going back and forth about how the music where I'm from, is better than the music where you're from. Not only is it childish, but it goes back to that plantation thinking. Hip Hop needs to just be on some sh*t where we just call out what's dope and what's trash. Not where it's from.

It's 2025. If we're still doing the dividing thing, then we haven't learned sh*t over the past almost 30 years. Common said in '96 that "too many n*ggas are fighting over land that they don’t even own a piece of". And it's true. It's corny to still be doing the regional back and forth sh*t. Makes the culture look stupid as a MF.

New York hiphop is garbage and the west coast isnt far behind it right now. Glad we could bond just now and show the world how its done:respect:

Salute to the south and midwest for being too humble to shyt on both of our regions btw.

-Ego & competition are a core part of hip hop so this shyt won't ever change & the east won't stop being hated on because they can't stop hating on every other region.
East Coast still the mecca and start of Hip Hop whether you like it or not You can't erase history.
-The thing is everyone knows this & nobody cares anymore. The east being where it started hasn't meant anything for a long time.

-No problem acknowledging it but when NY dudes use it to pretend it makes them superior they lose all credibility. It happened a long time ago before these dudes were born & it doesn't make them better artists than anyone else.

But we’re supposed to feel that way. So many classics have came because of NYC and east coast in general.

Right. I will always love NY and the culture. Those classics were yeeeeears ago. Yall sound like the Dallas Cowboys fans who talk about their 5 rings even thought they haven't been to a Superbowl in 30+ years.

NY'ers have this arrogance like if it didn't come from NY it's wack. That's how NY'ers have been throughout the whole time the West and other regions been making hip hop.

Trust if Pop Smoke was alive he’d be the main dude in Hip Hop right now. He was on the rise of being a superstar. Plus he wasn’t sticking to the same sound.

-You choose to feel that way. So many classics came that have nothing to do with NYC so dudes start the "we started it" nonsense to make themselves feel better. It doesn't makes them any more relevant.
