Uh it wasn't twice the cost and again YOU know it wasn't. The double albums were 3-4 dollars more.

For a person who claims to be around back then YOU should know that and DO but here you are trying to wiggle yourself into a W.

How old are you? I was 20 in 1996. I paid damn near $20 for "AEOM"....yes there was CDs going for $16 but typically it was around $12 for a new CD.

So u tryna tell me the nikka sold a whole million in the matter of 3 days?? And like Hex said. If u went and copped a double album then. The shyt cost damn near the price of 2 albums. Regardless. Pac SOLD MORE RECORDS THAN SNOOP IN 1996 BEFORE HIS DEATH.

I like how you are selective on what you think is worth referencing. Here is from the site you asked everyone to look at.

9x Multi-Platinum | June 18, 1998
8x Multi-Platinum | June 16, 1998

So, did he sell a million records in 2 days?

Hex and you are both full of shyt. Double albums were not 35 dollars.

I also like how you danced around the fact that technically Snoop's first week with Tha Doggfather was bigger than Tupac's first week with AEOM.

How old are you? I was 20 in 1996. I paid damn near $20 for "AEOM"....yes there was CDs going for $16 but typically it was around $12 for a new CD.

Fred.

I am pushing 40 but let's get this straight...

CDs were going for 16 and you paid 'almost 20 bucks' which we know really is just 19 dollars but the double cds were double the price?

See how that math doesn't work out Fred? 16 x 2 would be 32. Not 19.

Yeah I have a sneaky feeling you are trying to wiki your way through this one. Is that why it was a #1 song in the second biggest market in the country FOR-EV-ER and on his 'Greatest Hits' album?
What number did it chart on Billboard?

It was on the greatest hits Album because of DR was in charge of it.. Bias

"Heartz of Men", "Picture Me Rollin also made that album but Cradle to the Grave, Pour out a lil liquor & If my homies call didn't..

Look nikka. An album normal price 12.99. Double album could be 20.99 depending on where u copped. U played urself with those certs. It just means they were paid for different times. Not that the shyt literally sold a million in a day or 2. U honestly think that album went from 8 to 9 million in one day? Come on fam.

I don't know what number it hit on the billboard chart, im sure you already ran to the wikipedia page, but that doesn't mean it got any less play at house parties, POWER106, and in traffic in the second largest city in the entire country.

No it was on his greatest hits album because the song and the video went down in infamy. How Long Will They Mourn Me wasn't a big record and ended up on it. Thug Life didn't come out through Deathrow.

Glad you and Freddy Fred finally admitted it WAS NOT double. It was a 3-4 dollar spread so knock it off.

Are you going to address Snoop having a bigger first week than Tupac in a year that Snoop was supposedly completely dusted by Tupac?

Fam cut the bullshyt out....how old are you? Pushing 40 could be 35. I ain't trying to argue with somebody who was 11 in 1996, over what something cost.

And I said "there was CDs going for $16" because malls would over price the fukk out of them....the typical price was around $12. A double CD was $20+.

Matter of fact, make a thread. Ask how much a double CD cost vs a regular CD. In the 90's, not once the 00's hit because the price was damn near the same then.

Snoop instantly became a household name. Never seen nothing like it. 50 was the closest to matching the energy Snoop had

Well said. As a kid I was one of those fans dying to buy Snoop's debut after hearing him on Chronic.

I felt the vibe in Toronto at the time Snoop was bigtime.

I always said Tupac and Biggie got way more attention after their deaths.

Snoop was a natural star - Doggystyle was the fastest selling rap album ever - around 800, 000 albums sold first week!

Saying "they both started their careers around the same time" is disingenuous was fukk because one came out the gate with a Dre co-sign and one didn't.

And yeah Snoop was the biggest artist in the game. Key word was. Again, on equal footing Pac immediately eclipsed him. Again....the only way Glasses Malone's silly ass argument works....is if one of them has Dre+Death Row, and one doesn't.

Fred.

ah....we have come full circle. you said Dre's co-sign of Kendrick didnt matter. you said if Dre co-sign meant so much, then why didnt Bishop Lamont blow. remember that?
How is "Doggfather", a Snoop album with no Dre....irrelevant to the discussion.....but Pac's career prior to a Dre co-sign isn't? :gucci:

How does Snoop's career unfold, without Dre? Map that shyt out for me. Because Pac was known prior to Dre....Snoop wasn't.

Fred.

because that is not what the thread is about. the thread is about what Glasses said in the interview. which he says Snoop was bigger in 93, 94, and 95. he didnt say a damn thing about 97. I see you want to go outside of the scope of the argument but I am not going there because that is what is in the OP. the title of this thread is who was bigger when they were ALIVE. Pac was alive prior to the Dre co-sign, so that is why it is relevant. He wasnt alive in 97 when Doggfather came out. therefore irrelevant.:snoop:

you didnt read the thread or watch the video....or your trolling.

This is the argument you all bring to the table? "It's a double CD"?

As if a double CD wasn't almost twice the cost of a regular CD....

Seriously? For people that claim to be around back then you should know that.

And @synistr the reason 8 Ball was plat is because RIAA counts what shipped, not sold. So I don't even know why both of you are talking about who sold what.

Fred.

:mjlol:you are the one that said Pac sold more but when I bought up the double cd then you proceeded to shift goalposts. I dont remember the exact price but doubles were not almost twice the price in most places. only in indy record stores because the retail markup from distributor is very little. in Sam Goody's or big stores like that, where most albums are sold....single album by Pac or Snoop back then would be between $11.99 and $13.99. A double would only be about $6 more, $7 max. so essentially double cd albums were about 3/4 the price of buying 2 single disc albums. my point about 8 Ball is, he didnt sell a million albums...only half the amount he was certified at. Same with AEOM.

breh, I worked in record store. if a popular double album like AEOM was $20, then a single album of same stature would be $14-15. they were no where near double the price. there was a sliding scale. if Goody's had a new single disc album for $11.99 then a popular double CD would be no more than $17.99. shyt wouldnt be no damn $23.99. :dead:
cd's were cheap to manufacture so they werent doubling the price of them. like I said, nobody bought no damn 900k copies of 8 Ball's album at $20 a pop. His shyts were like $15 because Suave House was taking less because they were Indy.

yall and tryin too hard and exposing yourselves in here.
