I don't think saying he should be an MVP candidate every year is BS. He was offensive rookie of the year, why shouldn't he be considered an MVP candidate? He has a leg up on all other rookies that came into the league the same time he did.
Also, that "coaches weren't using him right" line is BS. How can you be offensive rookie of the year one year, but then the next it's "The coaches weren't using him right"?
That's the excuse people use when the player isn't performing as he should.

Also, his receiving yards have improved every year, but his YPC have actually dropped every year. His TD's are about the same, but basically for his career he's avereaged 70 receptions/826 yards/4 TD's.
Those are pedestrian numbers for Percy Harvin. He needs to step his game up...seriously
:what:Dog that line isn't BS... in 2011-2012 season the coaches had Percy on the sideline 40%-50% of the game while the offense was on the field

If you don think that is coaches being inept than I dont know what to tell you..

Did you watch the Viking's offense in 2012-2013... They didn't know how to call a gameplan to save their lives:russ:

It is obvious you didn't watch Viking games consistently... shytty QB's, shytty OC's, and horrible gameplanning isn't going to produce MVP candidates at WR...

Percy actually put up GREAT numbers when you look at what he is working with and it shows how good he is that he was an MVP Candidate on that garbage Offense. Imagine how good he'll be on a team that isn't a garbage offense:merchant:

Statistically he keeps getting better every year just like any other Young NFL wide receiver worth a damn... It is only going to get better in Seattle with a competent Coaching staff and a young mobile QB...

I don't even know why I am going back and fourth with you. You're going from saying Percy loses focus and his play suffers on the field to Percy need to be a MVP candidate every year with the likes of McFlab, Ponder, and Joe Webb throwing him the ball :RG3:

I`m sure he does.

But he's not a transcendent WR worth all of the picks and money being given for him. That's my statement.

The whole he is "special" thing is whatever to me. Special is a guy who puts up the numbers consistently. He has plenty of games where he doesn't seem to make much of an impact.

Looking at 2011 as a WR

7 yards vs. SD
42 yards vs. KC
11 yards vs. AZ
15 yards vs. GB
8 yards vs. NO
47 yards vs. Detroit

But he`ll also have monster games, and I do understand he rushes the ball to, but overall it tells me he is a pretty inconsistent player not worth 3 draft picks and a contract that's gonna be around $10m a year

:beli:

Did you see our quarterback play in the 2011 season? We had washed up Donovon McNabb, sorry ass Christian Ponder and Joe Webb. Percy gets a huge pass

My brothers a Vikings fan so I've watched a ton of their games over the years. Harvin's fun to watch and a great player.

Still think the Niners have the better team :manny:

lol Now what were his rushing and kick returning stats on those mediocre receiving games you posted?:troll:

Also lets not act like McFlabb, and Rookie Ponder weren't his QB's in 2011

Like I said, Harvin gets it done in multiple ways. I watched it! You don't even notice a mediocre receiving game when he is scoring TD's and gaining yards in other ways. I'm sorry but you just have to see him consistently to know what he brings to the table. and You will get a chance to see him consistently next year because you play them twice and i'm sure they will get some nationally televised games.

25th pick in the draft is no guarantee... 7th round pick is worthless... 3rd Round Pick next year is no guarantee either. So Vikings and Seahawks both took risks in this trade.

I mean, 8-11 mil is exactly what he is worth as a 5 year guy who has proven himself. shyt they could sign him for like 2 or 3 year, a short term thing. They are trying to win now, not 3 years from now. If it doesn't work you let him walk and resign your sure thing players.

It is going to be a coming out party for Harvin this year. I hate trying to type an argument out because we just have to wait and watch... I've seen so much of him that even I can't deny how sick he'll be on that squad...

He had Favre in his 33td's/7picks Vikings year and he had 7 games under 50 yards receiving and only 1 of 1000 and 6 td's.

:rudy: he wasnt even our number 1 WR that season. Sidney Rice was our number 1 then and 83 catches and over 1,300 yards. As our number 2 guy Percy had 60 grabs, 790 yards, 6 TD's and 2 kickoff return TD's.

You just throwing shyt at a wall and hoping it sticks. You just reading off stats from your computer, we actually watched those games

Does it make the production any different?

Like I said, i`m not trying to say he isn't a good player.

It was just a bad deal on Seattle's part. It's extremely short-sighted.

The coaching excuse would be valid if he hadn't accounted for damn near 2000 yards his rookie season with the same coaching staff.

You can't sit there and say he wasn't being used correctly when he wins Offensive Rookie of The Year. So the coaching staff just decides that they have this weapon that can amass damn near 2000 yards of total offense, and they're just not going to play him? They're going to let him rot on the sidelines for 50% of the offensive snaps?

How is the deal short-sighted? Percy is 24, and as a weapon is a perfect fit for Seattle. Seattle isn't going to turn into a full-on passing team, so a prototypical WR isn't going to make as much sense, nobody is gonna catch 100 balls in this offense. You can line Percy up all over the field, Percy is one of the best offensive weapons in the game. Period.

And financially, they know what they are doing, and this isn't going to stop them. They are shopping Leon Washington right now, he makes 2.9 million. Flynn has a big contract which will be gone soon, as well. And Sidney is making big money, which I'm sure he won't see the end of his contract. And Zach Miller is due to make 8mil+. They will be fine. I like the Boldin move, but don't knock the Harvin move, especially when you're team was going after him as well. If he was on the niners, you would be singing a different tune, friend.
