How is the deal short-sighted?

3 picks for one player, short sighted.

Signing him to a big deal isn't going to help when you got Browner, Sherman, Chancelor, Wagner, Thomas,Wilson and Okung looking for extensions in the next few years.

How much you gonna pay a slash-back guy? I can't wait to see the figure.

Smart teams pay their inhouse talent first, not trade multiple picks for outside talent and overpay that guy.

got this off pft

While I think moving Harvin is a positive, given the situation… The statements about his average play could not be more wrong.

Consider:
In 2011, Percy Harvin nearly set a single-season record for most return yards per kickoff return in post-merger history with 32.5.

In 2012, he demolished that record, with 35.9 yards per kick return.

Percy Harvin and Gale Sayers are the only two players in NFL history with 20+ scrimmage touchdowns and 5+ kick return touchdowns in their first four NFL seasons.

Since entering the league, Harvin has had the third-most all-purpose yards, despite playing fewer games than the top six players.

No wide receiver has more all-purpose yards in their first four years in NFL history. He has 7168 all-purpose yards, and DeSean Jackson comes in second, with 1460 yards fewer

Only one player in NFL history has had more all-purpose yards per game in their first four years than Harvin—Terry Metcalf in 1973-76.

Only eight players in NFL history have more yards from scrimmage per game in their first four years than Harvin

If Percy Harvin retired today, he would hold the record among all retired players for most all-purpose yards per game.

Only two receivers in the history of the NFL—and none of them after the merger—have accrued more rushing yards. He has 683.

Harvin led the league in YAC/Reception with 8.7 in 2012. He was 7th in 2011, 4th in 2010.

quit hating on harvin. Hes about to eat in seattle

Seattle has paid their in-house talent and will continue to do so. Seattle needed an explosive playmaker to fit their offense and got it. A player who will be a matchup nightmare for your team as well. If Rice is gone in a few years, and you pay Harvin 2 million more per season than Rice was getting, what the big difference?

I just want Seattle to make a move on a DT or DE, and they'll be good, though I would really like to sign Delanie as well.

You seem to not be able to differentiate between hating on Harvin and hating on the deal.

The deal was a bad deal for Seattle. The player is a good player. 3 picks, 1 being a first rounder for a good player is not a good deal.

Tell me who Seattle has paid, I just named their top talent and none of them are on their second contract.

Only dude I can recall Seattle paying is that ugly motherfukker Lynch

the 7th round pick is a throw away.

The got Harvin for a late first round pick. This isnt a short sighted deal. He's 24 years old....he's basically starting his career as a Seahawk.

niners fans, pour the sweat our yer boots.
you are 7 points away from that nfc west title.
lol Who even mentioned anything about San Fran being better than the Vikes?:what:

Even though the Vikes have beat the 9ers every time they have played in the past 10 years, It is pretty obvious they are the better sqaud.

Rams are not better than the Vikes... We lit them up last year... Vikes were a playoff team...

Max Unger got extended, one of the best centers in the league. Due to the CBA they couldn't even negotiate w/ Russell if they wanted to. I agree they could lose somebody, but you guys have the same issue with how you paid your 2 inside linebackers. Sometimes its worth the risk. They will make sure they keep Russell/Earl/Sherman. Those are a must. Browner is getting up there in years, they may be looking to replace him in a few years. I'm afraid they may loose Kam, but a thumper SS is a lot easier to replace than a Earl Thomas or a Richard Sherman.

Like I said, you named one fukking player hahahaha

49ers in the past few years have their core locked up.

Davis was extended, Willis, Bowman, Staley, Brooks,Boone all of them got extended in the last 2 years.

Your core is all coming up for deals in the next 2 years or so and you're about to drop $11m a year on Harvin.

Yeah he is, but what about all those other guys?

Sherman's gonna want insane bank, he's already thinking he is Revis level
Wilson is gonna be asking for mid-teen's per year
Thomas gonna want top safety money
Same goes w/ Okung

They're doing the thing a lot of foolish squads do, give up the draft picks for the quick fix and overpay the quick fix.

You`re a Jets fan you should know all about that.

The Holmes trade was a good move by the Jets, paying him was the problem after his first year.

And Harvin is better than Santonio
