So the Dems triangulated in 1992 after three straight losses in the presidential election, any chance Republicans move the party more to the center post 2016 or do they double down?

I'm going with the latter.

At this point I think their base is so crazy that they probably can't move to the center even if they want to. Anybody who runs as a moderate is going to just end up getting primaried by crazy GOP voters.

i'm curious and afraid at the same time to see what comes out of the republican party after the election.
just imagine if a 3rd party rises and builds it's self around Trump.

i think this is a real possibility.

Nah, base is too old and stubborn.

It's going to be real hard for some conservatives to keep their jobs the next 4 to 8 years when they're endorsing her. I think they've forgotten they've made livings by criticizing anything the other side does.

I think they want to triangulate, but they their voters are in the way.

True. I don't think it's going to hit them until the 2010 gerrymandered districts are corrected.

Can't wait for the day when the Republican candidate declares "the day of small government is over." :pachaha:

I think the linear political spectrum is a fallacy, especially in this day and age, and the idea of "moving to the center" doesn't really accomplish what some of you all think it does.

I've always thought of the spectrum as more of a circle anyway.
