Misleading.
1/3rd of Africa is literally just desert, and the vast majority of the rest is made up of is dense rainforset, mountainous regions and arid savanna.
You're obviously not going to see many lights in the Sahara desert.
EXACTLY! In Kenya we all live 120 km either side of the Mombasa Kisumu railway. This is the high potential agricultural zone consisting of the coast, the Central highlands, Rift Valley and Lakeland.
Most people, even Kenyans themselves don't know the majority of the country, 89% to be exact is desert and semi desert.
There are ACTUALLY 5 deserts here, the Taru in the south bordering Tz, Turkana, Chalbi and Somali in the North. Ofc their population density is so low it makes no sense providing electrical connectivity.
Otherwise it's pretty good and on course for full connectivity in the next 2 yrs.
- "The Energy Progress Report for 2021, a product of a partnership between the World Bank and bodies such as the International Energy Agency, says Kenya’s electrification pace is now ahead of population growth.
- Kenya’s annualised increase in electricity access between 2010 and 2019 was at 5.6 percent — the largest among the top 20 countries in the world with the biggest electricity access gap."
It should be near 90% as of now.
