Husband and Wife Die During Hot Tub Sex Two Days Before Daughter's Wedding

A couple from Nova Scotia, staying in a hotel in Mexico for their daughter’s wedding, reportedly died during intercourse inside a hot tubafter the husband suffered a sudden heart attack. The husband, 67 years old, died after the heart attack and is believed to have "squashed" his wife, whose death was caused by "asphyxiation by submersion." Their bodies were later discovered by their daughter, according to theDaily Mail.
"I know that they’re more concerned about the remains and cremation and things like that," a family member tells the Mail. "I don’t really know about the wedding." Though the couple was initially believed to have died due to some sort of electrical failure in the hot tub, local officials have rebuked these claims." All the equipment was working perfectly," a hotel spokesperson said in a statement, revealing that local police are currently investigating the incident. According to theStar, no signs of forced entry were discovered:
The man died of a heart attack, and the woman died of asphyxia by submersion, said Maria Antonia Salmeron, a spokesperson for the Attorney General of Quintana Roo.
The couple was found at 10 a.m. Tuesday in their room in the hot tub at the Playacar Palace Hotel in Playa del Carmen.
There was nothing out of order in the room, and no sign of illegal entry.
"We are treating them as our own family," the hotel spokesperson asserted. "All the group is very calm, in the best way they can be." The family is reportedly still staying at the hotel, though further details regarding their stay or the forthcoming wedding were not made available to reporters.
