Not to mention a lot of these dudes have rough childhoods and used basketball as a financial and mental escape. I think that contributes to the depression a lot of them face when they retire and suddenly have to face the internal issues they've ignored. As someone who grew up a big fan of Gilbert Arenas as a player and personality, it was eye opening seeing him talk about his Mom not being around when he was young. He tries to play it off but you can see the pain in his eyes.
