I worked with kids in two different aspects. I taught, and later on i worked in the Family and child services arena. I would always try to help these young dudes stay on the right path, but u would often lose them to that street shyt. You sit here and tell them point blank "you think you bad, but there is always gonna be a nikka who is badder" But they dont listen. I mean how many different ways can you tell them that they will be someone's bytch in prison? They think they will never take an L outchea, they think they will always be the wolf and never the prey. If you don't have a felony and you're in high school or have a GED you can get a minimum wage job with no problem. And in Oakland,CA the minimum wage is $12 an hour so these cats have no excuse if they don't have a record.

Come to think about it . One of our counselors was a older cat from Riverdale, GA. When it was time for group , breh used to stay droppin black excellence gems on us . He was the only one to tell us about private prisons, Prison Industry Complex, all that shyt . I can hear his voice " Look on ya damn milk cartons, ya drawls, it say CAL-PIA.
