Deathrow was on some bullshiit at times. It's been a long time since I read those Deathrow books, but if I remember correctly, Suge wasn't even fukking with him like that. Warren blows up, & than Suge gets upsets because Warren signed to Def Jam, so he than has Warren taken off future deathrow projects. Warren G was originally on "Let's place house." Suge took his ass off.

This niigga Suge man. He wasn't interested in Warren at all, even when "indo smoke" dropped he still wasn't interested. He saw the attention "Regulate" generated & changed his mind but it was already too late. Andre never seemed particularly interested in him either.

For whatever reason, they just weren't feelin him. However, when Def Jam signed him. Now it's a problem. The song "Regulate" was not only on the above the rim soundtrack (deathrow project), but it was on his solo album (def jam project) which caused some beef between the 2 labels. You had Suge going around mean mugging Lyor & scaring the hell out of Def Jam's staff. I miss the 90s

To be fair, Warren was a horrible rapper, so I can kind of see why Death Row didn't want to mess with him. I mean, it ended up working because of his beats and delivery, but nearly every other line on the G Funk Era album was him saying variations of "It's me, Warren to the G." And who can forget him saying "What's next, what's next, what's N-X-E-T, it's me Warren to the mother f'ing G." G Funk Era is a personal classic, but lyrically, it's really sad when Warren raps.

underrated post, regulate went triple plat and brought def jam back, they were facing bankruptcy and nann artists on def jam were moving units in 93 and 94. then polygram invested in def jam and got a deal with violator to distribute g funk era which rescued their financial situation.

I always find that funny cause it was Warren who initially brought Snoop to Dre and from there history was made. It's like they clearly erase him out of history when if it wasn't for him who knows what would of been or Dre and Death Row. I think that's another reason why I think he'll always feel sum way whenever sumone brings up Death Row heyday. You could practally say he made Death Row by bringing Snoop to Dre hell even wit Regulate they gave Death Row a lil more momentum while in between Snoop and Tha Dogg Pounds album. But Warren is gonna always be that overlooked underrated Westcoast legend
