He ordered her to call him God, then pimped her out at motels all over South Florida, federal prosecutors said.
Godijah Dawkins, 27, appeared in federal court in Fort Lauderdale Friday, on a sex-trafficking charge.
Federal agents say Dawkins forced a woman he met through a friend to prostitute herself. He advertised her services as an "escort" online and made her have sex with clients in motels in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties.
The Broward woman, in her late teens or early 20s, fell victim to Dawkins, authorities said, after she had difficulty paying her rent.
A mutual friend introduced her to Dawkins last June and she assumed he was a drug dealer she would drive around while he made illegal sales.
But Dawkins told her he had "something better in mind for her," Frank Vinci of Homeland Security Investigations wrote in court records.
Later, Dawkins and a friend, identified only by the nickname "Magic" in court documents, picked up the woman and drove her to a hotel in Hialeah. They forced her to have sex with both of them, though she was bleeding and vomiting during the assault. They called it her "initiation," investigators said.
Dawkins gave the woman rules to follow, which included only referring to him as "God" or "Daddy" when she spoke to him, agents said.
He forbade her to talk to other men, broke her phone and gave her a new one to set up prostitution dates, according to the allegations.
On one occasion at a West Palm Beach motel, investigators said Dawkins hit and choked her until she lost consciousness when he realized she was secretly avoiding prostitution clients. When she recovered, she was lying in a bathtub with water, she told authorities.
The woman was allowed to stay with her mother after a tonsillectomy, but two days after the surgery, investigators said Dawkins made her return and forced her to go back to work.
"Dawkins provide [her] with marijuana and 'molly' to deal with the pain in her throat," agents wrote.
At the end of August, the woman escaped Dawkins by contacting a male friend who agreed to pick her up at a South Florida hotel. She contacted law enforcement and identified Dawkins as her pimp.
Authorities found records that linked Dawkins, of Miami Gardens, to online ads featuring photos of the woman on backpage.com, records show.
Dawkins, arrested on Thursday, will remain locked up for now. He has a bond hearing scheduled next week and has not yet indicated if he will fight the charges.
