Obviously we evolved to be religious for a reason.
The day may come when we collectively grow past needing to believe in the afterlife or God or universal moral standards to live meaningful lives.
Really though we need to be more secular. God's doesn't exist to help people like this... so we have to. People want to look to God to save us, but the only ones who can save us are ourselves. Jesus, as deluded as those who think he's divine may be, taught people to help those who can't help themselves. He taught that the strong should protect the weak, the exact opposite of social Darwinism.
Instead of asking where God is and why he is not helping, help people yourself. Asking why Santa Claus doesn't bring a starving Somalian food as a Christmas present isn't going to feed him.
