but honestly, the character is going to sound counterfeit no matter who they choose, because a white guy is going to be the voice, and it won't have the same resonance.

like comparing Hayden Christian to James Earl Jones. Clancy Brown the only white actor i feel can pull off the acting right now, but he's too old out of shape too.

God of war didn’t even get mega-popular until the Norse Saga. God of War 3 sold under 5 million copies and GoW2018 sold 25+ Million copies.

Most fans of the series only know of the Greek series through youtube videos and flashbacks anyway.

The show lives and dies on who they cast to play kratos. If its as bad as the last of us casting as been then they might as well not even bother. But the showrunner/writer is a legend in tv (for all mankind, Battlestar) and Cory Barlog is assisting with writing and producing.

The Norse saga is so much more popular is doesn't make any sense not to start there especially when any new show can be cancelled after the first season. Should come out with their best first. and then if it proves successful, they can do a prequel series set in greece.
Greece saga would require a bigger budget anyway, better to wait and see if you got a hit first anyway.
