The reveal of God of War at E3 was one of the more epic moments in gaming. Yes, the Norse games sold much more, but the OG God of War trilogy was a bonafide AAA property right up there with Uncharted. The Norse games are not as successful without the foundation of the OG games, hence why people lost their shyt at the E3 reveal. I don't mind them starting with the Norse games for the series though.
As for who I could see them casting as Kratos, I wouldn't be shocked if they gave Travis Fimmel a call.
He made a name for himself on Vikings, and kind of looks the part. Voice obviously won't be there though.

If you want to stick to games I mentioned San Andreas. GTA 5 sold 200 million more copies. Yet everyone know back in 2004 San Andreas was a popular game.
To say God of War wasn’t popular pre 2018 is lie. You can say you prefer the Norse storyline to the Greek one. But to pretend that God of War was some unknown gaming franchise to prop up why they’re going with the Norse storyline is straight bullshyt.
